I’ve spent an unbelievable amount of time in virtual Zoom sessions, as I am sure many of you have as well. After leading and attending hours upon hours of virtual meetings, I’ve learned quite a few lessons about effective virtual meetings (Many of them learned the hard way!) and created a checklist to better plan for, organize and lead online professional learning of my own.

I was jotting these lessons learned in my notebook, on sticky notes and promising to keep them in my head for the next time, but that just wasn’t working. So, I created a brightly colored digital checklist to help. I have this checklist pinned to my browser and embedded it into my Google Keep for easy access. And each time I learn something new, I add an item to the list to help plan for my next session.

I know that many of you are also planning live sessions with your teachers and hope you find this helpful. I’ll keep updating it as my practice grows and hope you’ll share your top ideas, too!

  1. Love this, but I think you could add one more, in my opinion essential, element, and that is breakout time for teachers to discuss what you are presenting in small groups.
